Hello, I'm Rehuel.

I'm a tech and business specialist with 30+ years of experience — now working independently with businesses and individuals who value clarity, structure, and real support over buzzwords.

Based in Brno, Czech Republic, after a long career working across industries — from assembling computers and managing networks to building web applications and modernizing national institutions — I now offer direct support and web services built on that experience.

What ties everything together is simple: A love for learning, solving problems, and helping people move forward with confidence.

A Different Kind of Start

I was born and raised in Suriname, South America. In 2018, I moved to Brno, Czech Republic, where I now live and work.

My journey into technology didn’t start in a formal classroom. It started when I was still in secondary school, in a university computer center. Most visitors came to play — I came to learn.

The administrators noticed my curiosity and gave me something more valuable than access: they gave me encouragement. I got to learn MS-DOS, Lotus 1-2-3, dBase, WordPerfect — and later, BASIC programming. They told me, “The way you can pay us back is by paying it forward — share what you learn with others.”

That philosophy stuck with me. It shaped not just how I work, but why I work.

A Hands-On Tech Journey

Around 1994, I started my first real tech job: assembling computers for one of Suriname’s most influential IT firms — the only official HP dealer in the country at the time.

I spent hours — no, days — buried in hardware manuals, teaching myself how computers worked from the inside out.

In 1996, I found myself sitting in the brand-new San Francisco Public Library, losing track of time as I devoured Novell Networks manuals, teaching myself networking.

It wasn’t just about learning facts. It was about understanding systems — how things connected, how they could break, and how they could be made better. That hunger to understand has stayed with me ever since.

Building for the Web and Beyond

In 2000, I moved into web development, joining a design company where I built my first professional websites — and discovered Linux. (Installing Slackware from ten 3.5" floppy disks will always be one of my favorite tech memories.)

In 2004, I launched my own web development and hosting company. Back then, I introduced modern web practices to Suriname: separating design from structure with HTML and CSS, when table-based layouts were still the norm. I also offered affordable web hosting — ten times cheaper than competitors — making websites accessible to small businesses for the first time.

During that time, I built and maintained sites for businesses, non-profits, and cultural organizations like the National Folk Music School, often donating services because I believed in the importance of their work.

Big Projects, Big Lessons

My career led me from private businesses to national institutions.

In 2010, I joined The National Assembly of Suriname — our parliament — as part of a small team modernizing its operations.

I helped set up livestreaming, updated network infrastructure, and built in-house applications:

  • A secure document-sharing system for members of parliament
  • A timekeeper app for managing speaking times during debates
  • A searchable digital library for legislative records
  • A visitor badge and tracking system

It wasn’t just about technology. It was about helping people work better, think clearer, and move faster. And that’s still my focus today.

Stepping Back to Move Forward

When I moved to Brno in 2018, I made a deliberate choice.

After years of high-intensity work across businesses and institutions, I decided it was time to take a step back. I took support and service desk roles — steady, simple work — to give myself space to slow down, recharge, and enjoy life. Time to travel. Time to spend with my partner. Time to think.

I gave myself five years to live more lightly — to observe, learn, and reconnect with what truly mattered to me.

After those five years, I started planning my next move — exploring what opportunities were available. And I decided that, instead of trying to compete with the younger generations for IT jobs, I would go back to what I love: building web applications and helping people.

Why I Do This Work

After decades of experience across tech, business, and public institutions, I realized my favorite part of the work wasn’t the machines or the software.

It was the people. It was helping them untangle complex challenges and find clarity, structure, and momentum.

That’s what I offer now — whether I’m maintaining a website, helping someone brainstorm their next business move, or acting as a sounding board for someone who just needs to think things through.
